Art Unit Study Packet 3 + {10 Notebooking Art Pages}

I am determined to get through most of this art curriculum this year as far as creating it. We are still working on our art I purchased from Harmony Fine Arts and the free notebooking pages I created. I don't want to rush what we are working on, but one of my goals this year is to create free printables following the curriculum guide at Concordia University Chicago.

If you are new to following me, you will need the free curriculum guide located on their website. Download here free art curriculum guide at Concordia University Chicago - Art Lessons. {Scroll down to the bottom right.} Download each 10 packet lesson as my notebooking pages match their lesson plans. Grades 1 - 7.

 This is the 3rd packet in this series. The curriculum guide on that site encourages a teacher to cover one piece of art per grade per year. But you and I know we can cover so much more than that in one year. So that is one reason I am creating this series but also because I don't feel art really has any grade level when it comes to appreciating it. Obviously, the older your child is the more you will want to require of him. But for my boys, my focus is just on enjoying the process and not making it a boring process by having to write all the time. That is why I prepare *2 sets* of each packet.

This picture above shows how to use each packet. Both packets are the same except for ONE BOX. One packet has a place to write Interesting Facts for a child that does not want to sketch and one packet has a box for a child that wants to sketch that particular piece of art.

Mix and match the pages depending on your child's ability and desire. Both packets have a place to give the name of the artist, the title of the piece and a place to write a few details about the art.

Also, the curriculum guide gives background information on each artist so that really does not have a grade level, you would just hold your older students responsible for knowing more.

This is third piece in this series and the artists studied here are:

Daniel Boone Escorting Settlers Through the Cumberland Gap by  George Caleb Bingham; Niagara Falls, From the American Side by Frederic Edwin Church; Canyon de Chelly by Edward Sheriff Curtis; Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze; Liberty Bowl, No. 45 by Paul Revere; Blue Hole, Little Miami River by Robert Scott Duncanson; Anna Cuyler by Henrietta Dering Johnston; Grand Canyon of The Yellowstone by Thomas Moran; Thunderstorm On Narragansett Bay by Martin Johnson Heade;  Declaration of Independence by John Trumbull.

We have a field trip planned this week and will be working on our FBI unit study and I still have a few more updates to the Home Management Binder.

I heart this quote today thinking about all the time we spend educating and helping others and our children. I wouldn't have it any other way..would you?

"I know you've heard it a thousand times before. But it's true -- hard work pays off. If you want to be good, you have to practice, practice, practice.  If you don't love something, then don't do it."

 ~Ray Bradbury~

Love what you do today.

Hugs and you know I love ya,

Because I don't have everything on my site and you always get it first, if you missed the first two packets download them here.
